A statewide cadre of Olweus trainers has been developed over the last five years throughout Virginia. Though most trainers work for school divisions, many are available to work with school divisions without staff trainers. In all corners of the state, a trainer/consultant may be found. Biographical Information: Dr. Katie Moffett, Director of Bully-Free Virginia, provides training and consultation to schools, school divisions, parents, communities and professional associations in the areas of bullying prevention, prevention of dating violence, learning climate improvement, social/emotional health, and social skill building. She has conducted hundreds of workshops at the local, state and national levels. During the last four years, Dr. Moffett has led a large scale Olweus Bullying Prevention Program initiative in Virginia that has reached over 94,000 students in 90 elementary, middle and high schools. With over 30 years of experience in education and youth violence prevention, Dr. Moffett is a national Olweus Bullying Prevention Program trainer, an Olweus Technical Assistance Consultant (OTAC) and a certified Safe Dates trainer. She serves as affiliate faculty in the Department of Counselor Education at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Moffett is a graduate of Bucknell University, earned an M.Ed. in school counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership for the University of Virginia.
