Bully-Free Virginia supports schools that would like to implement evidence-based school-wide programs to address the issue of bullying. On this site and through Bully-Free Virginia resources, schools can learn more about funding, training, resources, program materials and success stories reported by other Virginia schools.
Olweus Bullying Prevention Program
is a comprehensive, school-wide program designed for use in elementary, middle, or junior high schools. Its goals are to reduce and prevent bullying problems among school children and to improve peer relations at school. The program has been found to reduce bullying among children, improve the social climate of classrooms and reduce related antisocial behaviors, such as vandalism and truancy. CyberSmart! Cyberbullying Resource
This manual, published by the National School Boards Association (NSBA) and CyberSmart! provides tools for schools on talking with students about cyberbullying and on conducting a cyberbullying prevention campaign.
The package includes: lesson plans; student activity sheets; Home Connection forms that enable educators to inform the involved students’ parents; prevention activities for schools, families, and communities; and direct links to more than 90 individual web tools on dealing with cyberbullying.
